Can you tell if someone has the Holy Spirit?

    From BelieveTheSign

Can you tell whether someone has the Holy Ghost? William Branham had several opinions on this.

    You can't tell

From a question posed to William Branham:

    12. Brother Branham, I want to know the place where I can tie down and say "This man has the Holy Ghost because he did this, or this woman has the Holy Ghost because she did that."

There's not a way in the world for you to know it. That's right. There's not a way in the world for you to know it. God is the Judge; we are not to judge. See? [1]

    Yes, you can tell

I have many Anglican friends who has the Holy Ghost. I have many Methodists… I just helped lead four hundred Lutherans to the baptism of the Holy Ghost. See? And so there's a whole Bethany College received the Holy Ghost at one time. So, see, it—it's not a—an organization, it's an experience for anybody that wishes it.

59-1216 WHAT.IS.THE.HOLY.GHOST_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-4 N-2 WEDNESDAY_ 31You let me talk to a man two minutes ; I can tell you whether he's received the Holy Ghost or not. So can you. It separates them; It's a Mark; It's a Sign. And the Holy Spirit is a Sign

You can’t judge by the fruit of the Spirit, oh yes you can. 64-0125 TURN.ON.THE.LIGHT_ PHOENIX.AZ V-22 N-3 SATURDAY_ 147 "Who is going to stand by you and bury you when you're dead? That kind old priest. He has got the fruit of the Spirit. But does this Jesus of Nazareth have the fruit of the Spirit?" You can't judge by speaking in tongues, neither can you judge by the fruit of the Spirit. But it's a manifestation of the Word of God, brought to Light. It's the Light that does it. The man that walks in that Light! Jesus Christ was not founding upon speaking in tongues, though He did it. He was not the fruit of the Spirit, though He did. You couldn't judge it. But He believed and punctuated It, and God lived every Word of the promise of that day through Him. That's the Light of the hour. That's the evidence.

65-1127B TRYING.TO.DO.GOD.A.SERVICE. SHREVEPORT.LA V-7 N-2 SATURDAY_ 30 It's what I was trying to say last night, that spirit can be baptized into that Spirit and still not be a Christian. See? You're living right off of the same Life, but the fruits you bear tells what you are. See? That's right. See? They can do all the signs, and pray for the sick, and heal the sick, and open eyes, and cast out devils, and--and do all these things, living right off of the same Life that's in there, but still it's a lemon. See? That's right. "The fruits, you're known," Jesus said. And so then we find out...
