William Branham believed that it was a spiritual sign that his last name was seven letters but that 'Graham' (as in Billy Graham) only had six letters.
Is this spiritual?
What we fail to understand is why English is the important language for the spelling of non-English names?
Abram, in Hebrew is אַבְרָם which has FOUR letters.
Until God changed it to Abraham, which in Hebrew is אַבְרָהָם which has FIVE letters, not seven.
Why did William Branham think it was important?
What was the purpose of hammering this point home? To draw attention to himself?
- Now, and another thing. If you'll notice, G-r-a-h-a-m is six letters. A-b-r-a-h-a-m is seven letters, and so is B-r-a-n-h-a-m seven letters. Now, if you're going to make that in conclusion, it might be a good thing. [1]
It's all Greek to me
Notice that Roberts, as in Oral Roberts, has seven letters but that did not appear to be of any consequence.
And, for those that think maybe Greek is the answer. Abraham in Greek is Ἀβραάμ which has SIX letters (the number of man). As to how you would spell either Graham or Branham in Greek or Hebrew, does anyone really think that it is of any consequence?
- But A-b-r-a-h-a-m, Abraham, is seven letters. Say, "There's nothing in numbers." Then you don't know the numatics of your Bible. You're sure to get it wrong now. Certainly. JEHOVAH JIREH 2 64-0403
