William Branham stated that Billy Paul had "''run off with some little kid still in common school and got married''". He also stated that the marriage had been annuled by himself and the girl's father after they found out about it.

In Germany, they brought a blind girl up to, and he said, "Satan has caused this, but Jesus is going to make you well." He pulled her to him, and prayed for the girl. I was 18 or 19, he said, "Lord Jesus, give this little child back her sight." I watched her eyes come open. Then she grabbed hold of my Dad's tie, like this. She said to the interpreter, "What color is that?"

=Healing of a Tumor=
But the truth is that May Branham, Billy Paul's first wife, filed for divorce from her husband a mere 43 days after they were marriedAdditionally a restraining order was issued and the marriage was annulled as a result of the divorce proceedings.
One time in Shreveport Louisiana, I'll never forget it, there was a woman who had a tumorAnd I think they estimate...it weighed about 50 pounds. ...He stood there and I seen him pray for that, and I was just a young boy, and I brought that woman up to him.

And I know this sounds jokingly, but I saw the power of God come upon that woman. She had a tumor out like this. Brother Branham laid his hands upon her and asked that demon to leave her. Like that. And that woman raised her hands, and praised God. And she had a belt and it fell off, and the tumor was completely disappeared and gone.
Why did William Branham find it necessary to lie with respect to his son's first marriage:

That's the God that we are talking about tonight. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever.
:1. He had consented to the marriage according to the legal documents; and

=Seeing the Angel=
:2. The marriage was not conducted by "magistrate" but by an ordained minister.
My Dad's brother Donny and I was there, sleeping. About 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning, I'll never forget. He woke me up, and he had a pillow across my face. And he shook me. He said "Paul?"

I said "Yes Daddy?"

...He says, "The Angel of the Lord said 'you can wake up Billy'"
Additionally, if the date of Billy Paul's birth is correct on the marriage license, then this is evidence that William Branham and Hope Brumbach were married while she was pregnantWas Billy Paul conceived out of wedlock?

I asked Daddy one time, I said "Why, Daddy, did that happen?"

He said, "Because God called you to work with me, son."

He said, "When Daddy takes the pillow from your face," He said "You know where the wash basin is?"

I said, "Sure,"

He said, "You look over there in that corner", he says, "He'll be standing there."

I was just about this boys size, right here. And I'm ashamed to say what I am going to say, but I want to be honest with you. I was thinking of an angel, you know something with wings, you know, flying. Because I hadn't listened close enough. But I am a witness to you here...that when he took that pillow from my face, there stood a man, just like that man standing right there. With his arm's folded, just like that man standing there. He looked at me like that, He scared me to death.

And I grabbed my daddy, and he said, "He won't bother you". He said, "He won't bother you, son."

But I am a witness to you tonight. It went from a form like that man there, into a mist, and went out of the room. From that time on, God bear me witness tonight, I could always tell you when he come into the meetings.

=Backsliding, Healing, and Restoration=
Billy Paul eventually started hanging around the wrong crowd, and was enticed by the fun and rock and roll of his generation. One morning, while washing his car, William Branham said to his son, "Do you want me to tell you where you were last night?"
Billy Paul said, "No sir."
Knowing by prophecy the activities that his son was involved in, William Branham said, "I can’t have you working at the meetings any more."
Billy left home and started gambling, smoking, and drinking until his health failed him, and his friends left himGangrene had set into his intestines and the doctor ordered a colostomy - even though Billy Paul was still in his teens. Unable to reach his father, he prayed that he would come find his son. The morning of the operation, Billy Paul felt his father's hand on his shoulder.
William Branham said, "You remember when God let you see the angel? I was in mountains in Colorado, and the same Angel said "Get to Billy right away! He is in trouble." He said, "I’m not going to pray for you. But, if you are ready to give your heart to Jesus, I believe he will heal you."
The doctor checked Billy Paul one more time, and found that the internal bleeding had stopped. The operation was canceled, and Billy Paul began a long rough road back to health and fellowship until he finally received the Holy Spirit as promised in the Bible, and as preached by his father.
