Son of Mary

This article is one in a series of studies on Jesus as Son - you are currently on the topic that is in bold:

Jesus Christ was born to a virgin named Mary, who was espoused to a righteous man named Joseph. Mary prophesied that all subsequent generations would call her blessed, and Jesus was called the "son of Mary" by others around him.

God had prophesied in the Garden of Eden that the "seed of the woman" would crush the serpent's head. Perhaps this is why the Bible records that Jesus calls Mary "Woman". Jesus Christ became subject to natural child birth, and by this, God became a kinsman with Adam's race through the Son of God, Christ Jesus.

What William Branham taught

William Branham taught that Mary was only an "incubator" for Jesus. God "made both egg and germ, He created both in the womb of Mary." His reasoning for this is as follows:

  1. The egg or ovum could not have been from Mary because that would have caused some kind of sexual sensation. "If the egg come from the woman, there has to come a sensation to bring the egg through the tube to the womb. See what you do with God? You make Him in a sexual mess."
  2. If Jesus was an actual Jew, he could not have been our Saviour. "He was neither Jew nor Gentile. He was that breach, between. He was God. And if He was Jewish blood, we’re lost; if He was Gentile blood, we’re lost. He was the Blood of God, created without sexual desire."
  3. Jesus never called Mary his mother. "She wasn’t a mother, she was just a woman bearing His Seed. That’s right. Remember, she was not Jesus’ mother. The world said so. Find me one place in Scripture ever He called her mother."

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Quotes of William Branham

28 He was God. God manifested in flesh. If He was just a prophet we’re all lost. He was neither Jew, nor Gentile. He was God. His Blood came from God’s own creative power, and the created the Blood cells. Mary was just a incubator. That was all. The woman produces the egg. The man produces the germ of life. He had no man, male as sexual, but His heavenly Father created the Blood cells, so the Blood was God’s own Blood, not…?…

57-1213 - And Then Jesus Came

14 God always appears in the form of man—flesh—to preach the Gospel. Just before the end of the Jews, God was made manifest in a human body called Jesus, which was the Son of God. But God dwelt in His Son. God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, or expressing Himself through the lips of Christ, His Son. How He was His Son, because He overshadowed Mary and created a blood cell. The ma… The baby is borned by the blood cell which comes from the male, not the female. The female… The cell of the female is only the egg. The germ of life comes from the male.

  59-0417 - Jehovah-Jireh

14 God always appears in the form of man—flesh—to preach the Gospel. Just before the end of the Jews, God was made manifest in a human body called Jesus, which was the Son of God. But God dwelt in His Son. God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, or expressing Himself through the lips of Christ, His Son. How He was His Son, because He overshadowed Mary and created a blood cell. The ma… The baby is borned by the blood cell which comes from the male, not the female. The female… The cell of the female is only the egg. The germ of life comes from the male. 15 Just like a hen can lay an egg, or a bird. It’s coming springtime and all the birds go out and make their nest. And they lay… A mother bird can lay a nest full of eggs, and get over them eggs, and hover over them; she turns them with her feet, keeps them warm. And she can set on that nest and hover those eggs until she’s so poor and weak she can’t fly off of that nest. But if she hasn’t been with the male bird, they’ll never hatch. That’s right. She’s got to be in contact with the male; because the hen can lay the egg, or the bird can lay the egg. But if it hasn’t been with the male, it’s not fertile.

  59-0417 - Jehovah-Jireh

38 We all know that the bloodstream comes from the male sex. The germ of life comes through the—the male. And in this case, Mary had the—the egg, but the germ, the blood cell, came from God the Creator Who made it. So you can’t say Jesus was a Jew, He wasn’t.

  60-0309 - Why?

41 But when God was here on earth in a human form, Jesus Christ was God made flesh and dwelling among us. Now, all the Fullness of the Godhead body was in Him. He was God made manifest. No man has seen the Father at any time, but the only Begotten of the Father has expressed Him. The… God was expressing Himself, what He was through His Son, Jesus. God overshadowed the virgin Mary, created a blood cell in the womb. And anyone knows that life comes from the male sex. Is that right? A hen can lay an egg, but if she hasn’t been with the male bird, it will not hatch. No, sir, because it hasn’t got the life in it. Life comes from the male. And then in this case God was the Male. And there was no sexual affair with it at all. God the Creator created a blood cell. He wasn’t neither Jew nor Gentile; He was God. That’s right. The Blood of Jehovah God created Himself a Blood to sanctify His people. And then in that dwelt the Fullness of the Godhead bodily. He had the Spirit without measure. We have it by measure.

60-0329 - It Is I, Be Not Afraid

41 See, there’s a element of life in the blood. Life is in the blood cell. Life comes from the male sex, not from the woman. The woman can’t produce life, ’cause she’s the egg. But she produces the egg, but the male produces the germ. The germ of life comes from the male, because it’s in the blood cell. And in that blood cell lays life. And in the blood cell, in the state—in the place of Jesus—was not the sexual affair of a man, but the creative power of God. It created a Blood cell in the womb of Mary with that egg that brought forth the Son of God, which was the tabernacle that God lived in Himself.

  60-0611B - Fellowship

68 The virgin birth was a paradox. I do not believe that Jesus was any part of Mary. That was not His mother. It was a woman that God used for that purpose, a incubator to bear His Child. If Mary… If the seed of the woman, which, she is the egg and the man has the hemoglobin… If that’s right, doctor, and (See?) the—the blood. The life lays in the blood cell. And a hen can lay an egg. But if she hasn’t been with the male bird, it’ll never hatch. I’ve often said this, and I say it again: It’s coming springtime. The birds will all be building their nests. An old mother bird can get on her nest and hover them eggs, and stay on there so loyal until she nearly starves to death. She gets so poor she can’t fly off the nest. Them eggs will never hatch, if she hasn’t been with the mate.

  62-0128A - A Paradox

CHANGE

70 Mary… If that Baby’s body (which the flesh comes from the egg), and if that Baby’s body was flesh of Mary, then what? Then Mary had to have some kind of a sensation. You see where you put God doing? God created both egg and blood cell. And He wasn’t Jew; neither was He Gentile. He was God, God in the form of sinful flesh. That’s the reason “I’ll not see—let My Holy One see corruption, neither leave His soul in hell.” He was the manifestation: God, to come into a tabernacle that He created Himself. Jesus never did in all the Scripture call her mother. He called her “woman”; not mother, “woman”.

  62-0128A - A Paradox

80 Well, they always believed, and I had an idea of it myself years ago, that the—the immaculate conception was that God overshadowed her and put a blood cell in there, but the egg come from the woman. If the egg come from the woman, there has to come a sensation to bring the egg through the tube to the womb. See what you do with God? You make Him in a sexual mess. God, Who created the blood cell, created the egg, also. Doctor, there has to be both male and female pollen. That’s right.

  62-0211 - Oneness

81 Well, then, if this woman produced the egg, then how could David say “I’ll not leave My Holy One see corruption, neither will I leave His soul in hell”? Then if the woman egg was in Christ, then the person’s got something to do with His part in the resurrection, when it’s wholly complete with God. Why did God raise up a sexual part of a person? In the resurrection, why didn’t He leave His body see corruption? Because He was holy. And how could He be holy if He’d had a conception with Mary, and the pollen had come from Mary, the egg down through the tube into the womb? There’d had to be some sensation to bring the egg down. Then the woman would be…

  62-0211 - Oneness

89 Listen. What happened? I said, “All right, I want to ask you something. The woman has no egg. She has no seed. He said now, He said not ‘an egg,’ He said ‘thy seed.’ And she had no seed.” 90 It takes a union to make a seed. Is that right, doctor? Has to be. If you got a whole lot of pulp out here, didn’t have no life in it, and planted it out here, it—it wouldn’t never come up, lay there and rot. And you couldn’t plant the life without having the pulp. So, you see, the whole thing is a union. I’m trying to tell you now about Christ and the Church. It’s a union. See, if the woman is the seed of herself then she doesn’t need the male, she can have her baby herself. But she can’t be, she can’t have the baby until she’s been with the male, because it takes the two together to make a seed. Is that right? Plant a seed with no life in it, see what’ll happen. 91 Like they got this saying this woman giving birth to these dogs here. See, it couldn’t be alive. It couldn’t be, ’cause, see, the pollen won’t mix. 92 Now, notice this now, the—the woman was not a seed. Therefore, He said, “I will put enmity between thy seed and the serpent’s seed.” Telling her that He was going, Himself, to give her a seed, not through an intercourse, sexually. He was going to create in her a seed. Well, you say, “Would that be His seed?” Yes. It would belong to Mary then after He give it to her. This is my eye, He give me this. It’s my eye, but He give it to me. This is my hand, He gave it to me. This is my voice, but He give it to me. See? And the seed that was, Mary…had nothing to do with Mary. It was something God did Himself. 93 So the seed that was in her then, was a union of an unlawful act, which was death. She was already pregnated with the serpent’s seed, ’cause she had lived with the…And she turned and said, herself, “The serpent beguiled me.” That’s right. And, immediately, Cain come on. 94 Oh, we know she said she got a child from God. Certainly, every child that’s born, illegitimate and anything else, has to come by an act of God. He’s the only One Who can make life. Certainly. That is right. 95 See, she was already to be mother. And that never…only what it did, was clear up the thing of the serpent’s seed. “The seed that’s in you now is by concepted, your unlawful act against My Word, with this thing here, and you are now got the serpent’s seed. But I’ll give you a seed by immaculate conception, and His Seed shall bruise the serpent’s head, and his head shall bruise the heel.” Amen. Just let God have it, if it’s His Word He’ll bring It to pass.

139 He didn’t have to say, “Mary, you loan Me an egg, I want to make a body so I can dwell in it.” God the Creator spoke, and she was a mother right then. She wasn’t a mother, she was just a woman bearing His Seed. That’s right. Remember, she was not Jesus’ mother. The world said so. Find me one place in Scripture ever He called her mother. Now come back to the Word. “Mother of God,” shame on you. See? 140 One day there was some people said to Him, said, “Your mother’s outside looking for You.” 141 He said, “Who is My mother?” Looked on His disciples, said, “They that do the will of My Father is My mother.” 142 She wasn’t His mother, she was an incubator. God could have used something else, but He wanted to take the very lowest and show what He could do with it. Raise it up, make something out of nothing, that’s God.

  62-0211 - Oneness

48 Now, this super Seed came. Some of them said, “Well, now, wait a minute.” The germ, of course, comes from the male sex. That was God-created. But the—the egg in the woman was His body. It was? You think that, that that would be of the woman? If it was, look what you put Jehovah doing. That egg cannot be there without a sensation. There had to be something happen. And look where you put Jehovah, mixed up in sex. God created the entire Being of Christ in the womb of Mary, and she was just a woman, an incubator, that bare this Son. Wasn’t nothing of her. Now. She’s just a woman that God used.

  62-0624 - Super Sign

41 I was talking to someone the other day, they different. They said that—that Jesus was the—the seed of—of Mary. If He was the seed of Mary; before the seed could come down through the tube, there had to be a sensation to bring it. Then you’re making Jehovah…You see what you’re making Him do? 42 God, the Creator, created both the egg and the Blood cell, and brought forth the Tabernacle. And man had nothing to do with It! It was God alone! That’s right. 43 She was a good woman, certainly. There’s many good ones sitting here tonight. And when God gets through using anything, it’s off the scene. And she’s not a mediator. She’s no mother of God. She’s a good, sainted woman in Glory, because she served the purpose of God. And every woman in here has the same opportunity, maybe not in the same way, but to serve God. See? God will use you. 44 He just used her for an incubator, but the Child belonged to God. Yeah, He was the Creator of both egg and the hemoglobin. And the hemoglobin, of course, come from the male sex; and He was the Creator of that. And Mary was brought this baby without any sensation, no more than the Holy Ghost overshadowing her and creating in her womb this Blood cell and egg that brought forth the Man, Christ Jesus.

  62-0706 - Jehovah-Jireh #2

79 And how can you people believe, or anybody believe… How can the Catholic church believe… Many of us… The immaculate birth, we believe that. But when it comes to… We know that the Blood cell come from God. We know God created that Blood cell that brought the virgin birth. Not only the Blood cell but He created the egg of the woman too, ’cause no flesh is holy. If that would’ve been the egg from Mary, then she’d have had to have some kind of a—of a sensation to have brought the egg down. But she knowed nothing about it. Just the Holy Ghost overshadowed. If you did, you see what you’d put God doing to a woman?

62-1125M - Convinced And Then Concerned

51 Which, we know the blood come, the hemoglobin, is from the male sex. A hen can lay an egg, a bird; but if she hasn’t been with the male, it will not hatch. It’s not fertile. So it comes from the male. 52 And in this case, the male was God, a Spirit, Jehovah, the Father. And He overshadowed the virgin and created this blood Cell that brought forth the Man, Christ Jesus, which was the Son of God. Now, He was neither Jew nor Gentile. He was God. Cause, you see, He wasn’t Jewish blood, neither was He Gentile blood. He was God’s Blood, creative Blood to redeem us. So there’s neither Jew nor Gentile can say He belonged to us or that. He belonged…He died for Adam’s fallen race, for both sides, for all people, everywhere, who would believe Him.

  63-1103 - Go, Wake Jesus

82 Now many times we say that, “Jesus was Jewish.” No. He wasn’t. No, He was not Jew. He wasn’t Jew nor Gentile. He was God. See, the hemoglobin is where the life cell is, and the life cell was a creative cell by God. There was no—no social life between God and Mary. There is not even a sensation. He created both germs, that’s right, egg and cell. And He was neither Jew nor Gentile. He was that breach, between. He was God. And if He was Jewish blood, we’re lost; if He was Gentile blood, we’re lost. He was the Blood of God, created without sexual desire. That’s, that’s the reason our faith can look There and stand assure that’s It. So He died for both.

63-1115 - The World Is Falling Apart

32 Now, I know many of you people and the Protestants think that the egg was Mary’s. And the—the hemoglobin which comes, the life comes in the blood cell. Because, a hen can lay an egg, without being with the male bird, it won’t hatch, because it’s not fertile. Life comes from the bloodstream, which comes from the male sex. But in this case there was no male sex, so, “the life in the blood,” it had to come from God alone, and He created a Blood cell in the womb of Mary. God Himself, the Creator Himself, created a Blood cell. Now look. They say, “Well, it was the body. Mary had the egg.” No, sir. She was not; no egg. If it was an egg, you cannot get the sperm without a sensation. And if He, she had a sensation, what do you have God doing?

  64-0308 - The Token

322 And notice, then she was given a Seed which was Christ. Neither her egg…Now, the Protestant wants to believe that it was a virgin born hemoglobin, that was the created Blood of God where the germ layed, but said it was her egg. No, sir! That egg cannot come down through that tube into the womb unless there be a sensation. Then you put God, with a—a Spirit, having a sexual intercourse with a woman. How can it be done? It was a created matter of God altogether, both egg and germ. 323 And He was the Son of God, not the son of Mary, for He never did call her mother. “Woman,” He called her, never mother. She wasn’t His mother. It was the Son of God, and God is One. Get it?

  64-0830M - Questions And Answers #3

100 Now, now some of them says then, the Protestant more or less believes that it was the Mary produced the egg. If that be so, look what you make Jehovah God doing. The egg cannot be produced without a sensation. 101 So, you see, God made both egg and germ, He created both in the womb of Mary. And that Man was not nothing but God Himself made flesh and dwelt among us, Emmanuel, not just a fine man, a prophet; He was fine Man and Prophet; not a teacher, a theologian. Oh, He might—He might have been all of that; He was all in all. But above all that, He was God Himself. The Bible said, “We are saved by the Blood of God.” God Himself, not a third person or a second person. The Person, God Himself, great Jehovah, overshadowed Mary; and the Creator, and created both the blood cell, the life, and also the egg.
