There are a number of reasons why Jesus is called the Son of God:

#Jesus was a [[Son of David]], who was a Son of Adam, who was a son of God.

#Jesus was a created seed in the womb of the virgin Mary, making him a Son of God.
#God is a spirit, and the Son of God must also be a spirit.  Jesus' spirit was torn from his body at Calvary.  Before he ascended into Heaven, Jesus said that he would ask the Father to send the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, to teach his disciples so that he would abide with them forever.  Jesus also said: "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ.  Jesus was telling his disciples that he would come in another form: the form of God (a spirit) rather than in the form of a Man (a body).
#The book of Job records that the "sons of God" came before the LORD, and Satan was among them.  "Sons of God" therefore refers to heavenly beings, rather than earthly beings.
#When King Nebuchadnezzar threw three Hebrews into a furnace, he saw four "men" walking around, and the fourth was "like the Son of God".  The fourth man was in the form of a man, but looked like an angel: perhaps his face shone just like when Jesus was transfigured before Peter, James and John.
#Paul said: ''"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."'' (Romans 8:14)  As the Christ, the anointed Messiah, Jesus was led by the Spirit of God (which was inside him), and was the Son of God.
