|Son of
Jesus is identified in the New Testament as the Son of David, the Son of Abraham, the Son of Man, the Son of God, the Son of the Blessed, and the son of peace.  Jesus is also mistakenly supposed by others to be the Son of Joseph, and the Son of Mary.

Son is another word for seed, or offspring.  In the Eastern cultures, sons and servants were placed under the direction of tutors.  If a son demonstrated the ability to manage the affairs of the father, he would join his father upon the approval of the tutor in a process called 'adoption'.  If the son was not competent (or yet too young), the affairs of the inheritance passed to the servant until the time that the son was able to posess all things.  The office of a son therefore includes responsibility, demonstration, and inheritance.

Scriptures on the Son in the Old Testament
Commentary by William Branham
Three offices of the Son
:Remember, He comes in three son's names. He came first in the name of the Son of man. He never called Himself the "Son of God." You know that. See, He came in the Son of man, a prophet. Jehovah Himself, the Father, called Jeremiah, "son of man"; a prophet is son of man. He come...
:Now He come after the Day of Pentecost, He come back in the form of the Holy Ghost, supernatural Spirit. Now He's Son of God.
:In the Millennium He'll be Son of David, setting upon the throne of David. See, He come in... He's Son of God, Son of man, Son of David.
::Sermon: Modern Events are made clear by prophecy, SBD, CA, Dec 6, 1965

:As the Son of David He's a Heir to the throne. As the Son of Abraham, He's a Heir to the royal grant. Amen. Is that right? He's a Heir to the royal grant (Amen), Palestine and all that's in her. Abraham's Seed, He was a Son of Abraham.
:As the Son of man, what does Son of man... What did man lose? He lost the earth. So as the Son of man He's a Heir to everything in the earth. All this He's got and has to give it back to us, then He's returning back as He was. He...
:Now, then, as the Son of God He inherits all things. As the Son of David He's Heir to the throne; as Son of Abraham He's Heir to the royal grant; as Son of man He's Heir to the earth; as Son of God He's Heir to all things in heaven and earth. Oh, my. That's our Redeemer, our Kinsman Redeemer.
::Sermon: Revelation CH. 5 #2, Jeffersonville, IN, June 18, 1961

Every Son has a Tutor
:In the Old Testament when a son was borned into a home, he was a son when he was borned. He become a son when he was borned into a home. And the ordinary, typical, oriental home in those days, the son was giving a place and a tutor that raised the child. Paul beautifully speaks of it in the New Testament, that how the tutor was to raise the child, and we were... The law was a tutor to bring us to Christ.
::Sermon: Hidden Life, Chicago, IL, Oct. 6, 1955

:And how typical that is of our heavenly Father. When His children is born into the Kingdom, they're not given a bishop, neither are they given any earthly person, but God the Father has given the best tutor the Church could have, the Holy Spirit, as a raiser of the Church. "When He comes He will teach you and guide you into all truth," the Holy Spirit.
::Sermon: Hear Ye Him, Indianapolis, IN, June 11, 1956

The report of the Tutor
:And now, when this duty of this teacher of raising the son, was to bring word to the father how he progressed. And his conduct determined his inheritance. If he was a good son, he would inherit all the father had. If he wasn't a good son, then he got nothing; he wasn't worthy, yet he was a son.
::Sermon: Hear Ye Him, Indianapolis, IN, June 11, 1956

:How shameful it must be as Ezra, the prophet, blushed before God, that the Holy Spirit must have to blush before the Father of the conduct of His children, how that--how sin has crept into the church. The things that goes on in the church today, that we call ourselves the church of God... I don't want to hurt you now, but I want to help you.
::Sermon: Hear Ye Him, Chattanooga, TN, March 1, 1958

:Wonder what the Holy Spirit says when He comes before the Father with the character of some of His people here on earth? When He goes up there and He says, has to say, "Father, Your daughters are wearing men's clothes. They're bobbing off their hair."
:..."Anybody tell them about it?"
:"Yes. They're staying home on Wednesday night to watch, "We love Susie," or ever what that thing is. They won't go to church; they go fishing on Sunday morning, instead of going to Sunday school."
:...Now, that child in the Old Testament, he never had any inheritance. Why, the father couldn't trust him with anything. What kind of a fellow would he be? But he couldn't trust him; he's always a son, but he never had any inheritance. And if you don't watch, Pentecostal church, that's going to be our lot--no inheritance.
::Sermon: Hear Ye Him, Yakima, WA, Aug 6, 1960

Adoption: the inheritance and authority of the Son
:But if he was the right son, and the son that would obey his father, then that son was adopted or placed positionally. He become heir of what the father had. And that's what God was doing on Mount Transfiguration, when He took His own Son, after He'd been proven to be the right Son (See?), and had stood all temptations. He took Him up on Mount Transfiguration and overshadowed Him. You know, in the Old Testament they took a son, dressed him in a nice pretty garment, and set him out before the public. And they had a ceremony of placing, or we call it adopting. In Galatians there. I kinda think Paul refers to it as adopting sons.
::Sermon: Blasphemous Names, Jeffersonville, IN, Nov 4, 1962
