So how did we get in this place?  In the beginning God created a man and a woman, Adam and Eve.  Adam and Eve disobeyed the only commandment that God gave them, which came with consequences.  Since then, all the children of this couple have inherited the curse of death and suffering.

God could have completely abandoned or obliterated the human race, but he instead chose to redeem his children (that is what he calls us) by sending his Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins that we might live. Those who believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and keep his Word, have eternal life.
