    Powerful woman in America

Church Age Book statement of the vision
Then in the sixth vision there arose up in America a most beautiful, but cruel woman. She held the people in her complete power. I believed that this was the rise of the Roman Catholic Church, though I knew it could possibly be a vision of some woman rising in great power in America due to a popular vote by women.

The first mention of this prophecy was in 1955 . The vision has not been fulfilled (as of 2019) and is an odd prophecy because it contains a ‘possibly’. He claims a vision and comments that he is not sure which of two options is correct. He saw a beautiful cruel woman rise up and thought it represented the rise of the Catholic Church. Well, did God impress upon him that it was the Church? If God did, then there are no options, it is the Catholic Church rising to power. If God did not then it’s real woman and why is William Branham saying that it might be the Church! This is an un-prophetic thing to say.

So, we are to look for two possibilities – a cruel powerful woman or the Catholic church. The closest the USA has come to having a woman president (as an example of a woman rising to power) is the candidacy of Hilary Clinton in 2016, though her political career (including her position as Secretary of State) could not categorise her a ‘cruel’.

The Catholic Church in America is mired in controversy and is not a political force. In fact, there has never been a specifically Catholic religious party in America. The American Solidarity Party though has Catholic roots. It has had extremely limited electoral success but did put forward a presidential candidate in the 2016 election, Mike Maturen. He got 6,147 votes nation-wide (0.00%) and zero Electoral College votes (0.00%).

So, while it is possible that this vision could be fulfilled in the future it does not look as if it would be fulfilled via the Catholic Church and the beautiful, cruel woman is yet to be seen.
