He was a friend of William Branham and was well known for being the man in the "green checkered shirt" in the story that Branham told about [[The Brown Bear Vision#The 1961 Vision of the Grizzly Bear|shooting a grizzly bear]].

The church went through a significant split when there was a massive departure of the senior church leadership in October 2009, after it was discovered that Byskal covered up the sexual abuse of a minor in the church.
