| In the Old Testament, the prophet Job was rebuked by the LORD for maintaining his own righteousness when God took his posessions and weath. In the New Testament, a rich young ruler told [[Jesus]] that he had kept all of the commandments from his youth; however, he was troubled when Jesus asked him to sell all his posessions and follow Jesus. This ruler did not understand that righteousness is only found in following Jesus, the Word.
