The 1964 Alaskan earthquake on March 27, 1964 was the most powerful recorded earthquake in U.S. and North American history, and the second most powerful ever measured by seismograph — the strongest being the 1960 Valdivia earthquake in Chile.  Followers of William branham believe that this earthquake was the fulfillment of a prophecy made just days before the quake occurred.

=The "Prophecy"=

The story is told that William Branham was hunting in the mountains of Arizona.  Standing with his friend, Banks Wood, he threw a rock into the air and said, “THUS SAITH THE LORD, you’ll see the glory of God.” The rock fell to the ground, giving rise to a tiny whirlwind. The next day, while the hunters were in camp, the whirlwind ripped through the mountain. It tore out the side of the cliffs and cut of the tops of the trees. The rocks broke into three-sided pieces, and today, believers come from around the world to that place and still find those little testimonies of the power of God.

=Problems with the Prophecy=

From VOGR
William Branham stated that he prophesied the earthquake before the fact, [[Proof of the Prophetic|but like virtually all of his prophecies]], it was not made public until AFTER it was fulfilled.

It was around this time, 50 years ago, that the prophet was in the mountains of Arizona, hunting javalina hogs.
As well, there is a video of Doug McHughes (who was hunting with William Branham at the time) which relates some significant differences from the story as told by William Branham.

Because this "prophecy", was not told until after the fact, it cannot be classified as a true prophecy.

A few days later, the entire world saw at least a part of the manifestation of what started that day at Sunset Mountain. It was judgment striking the west coast of the United States.
