    ==Commentary by William Branham==
    ===Jesus Christ is the only Mediator===
    :''I asked that priest, I said, "Why did any... If Peter was the first pope?"''
    :''He said, "That's right."''
    :''I said, "Then why did Peter say, 'There's no other mediator between God and man but that Man Christ Jesus.' And you've got five thousand dead women and everything else you're making mediators. Now, what's happened?" There you are. They ain't got an answer for that. That's right.''

    ===The power of our confession===
    :''He's the High Priest of our confession. Therefore, He cannot do anything for us until first we confess that He has done it. And then when we confess it, then He is the High Priest, a Mediator to go to work on that and make it right. So we pray, trusting in God tonight, in His kindness and mercy, that He will give to us His abundance of grace tonight.

    ===Christ the Sacrifice Lamb===
    :''Now, we could spend much time this afternoon, in explaining that, which would be just reviewing what we already know, that how Christ foreshadowed in the types the sacrificial Lamb, how it must be kept up, a male without blemish, and how it must be killed by the elders, and how that the blood must be sprinkled on the door, all foreshadowing the coming of Christ. And under this shed blood was the place that God met the worshipper, when the Death angel passed through the land.

    ===The order of [[Melchizedek]]===
    :''Just look at this: "Where the forerunner is for us entered in, entered, even Jesus..." The Forerunner of what? The Forerunner of our salvation, physically and spiritually: "For He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquity, the chastisement of our peace upon Him, and with His stripes we were healed." The Forerunner of our salvation has already entered in. The assurance... already "entered, even Jesus, made a high priest forever after the order of Melchisedec."
    ::Sermon: Melchisedec the Great Prince, Jeffersonville, IN, Jan 9, 1955
    :''In the Old Bible they had a way to find out whether it was the truth or not. They had in their Mosaic laws they had what they called the Aaronic priesthood, and then the Levitical priesthood, rather, and Aaron was the high priest carrying...on his breast, the stones of each birth of the patriarchs. They hung that breastplate up. And then it was called the Urim Thummim. And when a prophet prophesied, if he went to the Urim Thummim, and he told his prophecy, or told his dream, and that supernatural lights didn't reflect back in a conglomerations of light, then, I don't care how good it sound, it was wrong. They refused it. All good teachers knows that, that they--they refused it. It had to witness to the Urim Thummim. And now, of course when that priesthood ended, then there was another priesthood come in which after the order of Melchisedec.''
    :''Now, now today we do not have the birthstones of the patriarchs, but we do have a Urim Thummim. And that's God's Bible. Jesus said, "Heavens and earth will pass away, but My Word shall never pass away." And in the book of Revelations, which is the revelation of Jesus Christ, He said, "If anybody will add to or take away from It, the same will be taken, his part, out of the book of life." This is the Urim Thummim.''

    This article is one in a series on Jesus - you are currently on the topic that is in bold:

    A Priest is a mediator between God and man. Aaron, the brother of Moses, of the tribe of Levi, was the first priest in the Old Testament. All subsequent priests were from the tribe of Levi. As ordained by Moses, Aaron and all subsequent priests had specific duties to fulfill, all of which were types of the coming Messiah. These duties included:

    • Anointing, and being anointed
    • Authority to partake of a portion of the sacrifices
    • Care for the lamps in the tabernacle
    • Consecrating, and being consecrated by water, blood, and time
    • Consecration and purificaton of the holy vessels
    • Consecrating priestly garments
    • Duty to sacrifice, examine the sacrifice, and cleanse the sacrifice

    • Examine leprosy, and declare healing or banishment
    • Make atonement for sins
    • Prove the reputation of women (if questioned)
    • Receive tithes
    • Separate a Nazarite from his vow
    • Valuation of wealth
    • Wave the firstfruits offering the morning after the sabbath

    While Jesus is called "mediator" a number of times in the New Testament, he is only called a priest in the book of Hebrews. However, his office as a priest and his relationship to Melchizedek (the priest of the Most High God, who blessed Abraham) are discussed extensively between Chapter 2 - 10 of this Book.

    For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. (I Timothy 2:5-6)

    Scripture Text:
    HEBREWS 2:16-17 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
    HEBREWS 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
    HEBREWS 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
    HEBREWS 5:5-10 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
    HEBREWS 6:20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
    HEBREWS 7:26-28 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
    HEBREWS 8:1-6 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
    HEBREWS 9:11-14 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
    HEBREWS 9:24-28 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
    HEBREWS 10:12-14 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
    HEBREWS 10:19-22 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
    HEBREWS 13:15-16 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
    GALATIANS 3:19-20 Wherefore then [serveth] the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; [and it was] ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator is not [a mediator] of one, but God is one.
    I Timothy 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
    HEBREWS 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
    HEBREWS 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
    HEBREWS 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than [that of] Abel.
